  • January 19, 2024
    The Hub and Rivanna River Way are temporarily closed for repairs after a domestic water main break to the Hub. The building and road closure will remain in effect until Monday, Jan. 22, at 8 a.m.
  • January 9, 2024
    Due to weather conditions, the road closure previously scheduled for this weekend on Founders Way North has been rescheduled. Founders Way North will be closed between the Van Metre Garage entrance and the west entrance to Vernon Smith Garage from Friday, Jan. 26, through Monday, Jan. 29. This section of roadway will be closed while a tower crane is removed from the construction site for Fuse at Mason Square.
  • November 15, 2023
    Contractors will work to clear a storm water pipe blockage at the intersection of Patriot Circle and Mattaponi River Lane on Thursday, Nov. 16. There will be traffic controls and heavy equipment in the area between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. 
  • November 10, 2023
    Landscaping work is underway on the plaza at Mason Square through Friday, Nov. 17.
  • November 2, 2023
    The plaza at Mason Square will be closed for improvements starting Monday, Nov. 6, and will remain closed until March 2024. Construction fencing will block most of the plaza, but accessible pathways to the main entrance of Van Metre Hall will remain available near the plaza stage and near Hazel Hall. 
  • October 25, 2023
    On Friday, Oct. 27, the 30-Minute Parking Lot in front of George Mason University's Merten Hall will be closed from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. for the annual Life Safety Fair on the Merten Lawn. Also on Friday, Oct. 27, is the Once Upon a Scream event hosted by the Office of Student Involvement around the Fenwick Library lawn area from 7–11 p.m. Chesapeake River Lane will close at 2 p.m. to all parking and traffic, except disabled parking near Commonwealth Hall.
  • October 23, 2023
    On the evening of Tuesday, Oct. 24, there will be an increased volume in traffic on and around George Mason University's Fairfax Campus, as well as an increase in on-campus parking, due to a concert at EagleBank Arena, with 5,000 attendees expected. 
  • October 18, 2023
    The utility company will perform electrical testing on the Fairfax Campus on Wednesday, Oct. 18, between noon and 6 p.m. The campus may experience flickering lights, but no power loss is expected.
  • October 5, 2023
    Tree work will be in progress on the Fairfax Campus of George Mason University around Patriot Circle, Lot K, and Presidents Park on Friday, Oct. 6, and Saturday, Oct. 7. Work will occur between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. Temporary sidewalk closures may be in effect during this time, and heavy equipment will be present.

    The sidewalk along Fairfax Drive directly in front of the Fuse at Mason Square construction site will be closed starting this week through the rest of the fall semester. The pedestrian bridge between Washington Boulevard (near the north entrance to Vernon Smith Hall) and the FDIC plaza will have intermittent closures during September.

    George Mason Facilities is excited to announce a Custodial Pilot Program launching this fall on the SciTech Campus and in Merten Hall on the Fairfax Campus.
  • September 7, 2023
    Contractors will repair sidewalks on the northeast side of Student Union Building I (SUB I) and near door A9 of Horizon Hall on Friday, Sept. 8, and Saturday, Sept. 9, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tree work will be completed on the west end of Wilkins Plaza on Friday, Sept. 8, and Saturday, Sept. 9. Work will occur between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m.
