Parking and Traffic Advisory

Heavy traffic is expected on the Fairfax Campus for regional high school graduation ceremonies at EagleBank Arena from May 29 through June 18. EagleBank will host up to three ceremonies on many days, so traffic will be entering and exiting campus from 8 a.m. until 10 p.m. Please allow extra travel time on and near campus.

As the fall 2023 semester begins, Mason students, faculty and staff are reminded that traffic on and around the Fairfax Campus greatly increases, especially during the first few weeks of the semester. This campus parking and transportation guide with information on Mason Shuttles, visitor and non-permit parking options, biking, carpooling and other transit options will help minimize potential parking and traffic delays. 

As George Mason University gets ready to welcome residential students to campus for the new academic year, several parking and traffic closures will occur on the Fairfax Campus from August 16–20 to accommodate the move-in of nearly 6,000 residential students.

Contractors will be on the SciTech Campus to complete road work on the following dates: Friday, May 26; Tuesday, May 30; and Wednesday, May 31.

George Mason University Commencement and Degree Celebrations will be hosted on the Fairfax Campus from Thursday, May 18, through Saturday, May 20. Heavy traffic is expected on campus between 8 a.m. and 9 p.m. each day. 

Road striping crews  will be on the Fairfax Campus May 1-16 to remark directional striping, crosswalks and other road markings.

Contractors will complete repairs and renovations to sidewalks, curbs, and ramps throughout the SciTech Campus from Monday, May 1, through Friday, May 5.

An ROTC training exercise will occur on the Fairfax Campus on Thursday, March 30. Contractors will perform sidewalk repairs around Patriot Circle from Thursday, March 30, through Friday, April 14.

Pedestrian pathways will be demolished and replaced on the Fairfax Campus from Tuesday, March 21, through Saturday, March 25.
